Description
Peter II. Alexeyevich (* 1715; † 1730) – Zar from 1727 to 1730 and grandson of Peter the Great. The young Zar was strongly influenced. At first, Alexander Menshikov tried to expand his power by instrumentalizing the teenage Peter, but then Menshikov was overthrown by the Dolgoruky princely family. Peter II. moved the court back to Moscow. In 1730 he contracted the smallpox and died. With his death the line of male Romanovs ended.
