Peter I. – “the GREAT” (* 1672; † 1725), born Pyotr Alexeyevich Romanov, was Zar and Grand Duke of Russia from 1682° to 1721 and the FIRST EMPEROR of the Russian Empire from 1721 to 1725. In 1724, he made his second wife his co-ruler. He reformed the Russian Empire along Western lines and is considered one of the most important rulers of Russia.
