The “FAKE” Dimitri I. (* unknown; † 1606) was Zar from 1605 to 1606. He claimed to be the youngest son of Ivan the Terrible, which was not true. That’s why he was called “the FAKE Dimitri”. With the help of the Polish king Sigismund III. Vasa he attained the dignity of the Zar, converted to Catholicism and married his Polish woman Marina. Because of his poor politics, he lost the support of the nobility and was eventually assassinated in a revolt instigated by his successor Vasily.
