Description

Napoleon was prevented from defeating Russia in 1812, among other things, by a very funny incident: The Grande General decided that the capture of Moscow would be enough for his victory, since afterwards the Russian Empire would fall apart anyway. That was the exaggeration par excellence because the brilliant French army commander simply forgot that Moscow was not the capital of Russia at that time. 🙈

Napoleon, apparently, did not know the Russian proverb that “one should not spit into a well”. As a result, he did not succeed in intimidating with cruelty, but the Grand Army had to attack and retreat in extremely hostile conditions, and so Alexander I. had won this game of chess! 😊
