Description

The Sovjet of the Ural region were informed, that counterrevolutionary Civil War troops were advancing on the city of Yekaterinburg, where Zar Nicholas II. and his family were being held prisoner. It was feared that the former Zar’s family would be freed and used as a living symbol of the struggle of foreign intervention and civil war troops against Sovjet power. Therefore, the Sovjet of the Ural region gave the order to shoot Zar Nicholas II. and his entire family. This inhumane sentence was carried out on the night of July 17th, 1918. A day later, on July 18th, 1918, the Central Committee of the Sovjet was informed about this fact and subsequently approved it.

This is one of the last photos of the Royal Family showing them alive. It shows Nicholas II with his daughters Olga, Anastasia and Tatyana in Tobolsk in the winter of 1917.

And that was the END of the Russian Zars!
