Description
Sofia Alexeyevna (* 1657; † 1704) – regent from 1682°–1689, daughter of Alexei I. After Fedor’s death, the question of succession to the throne arose. After the bloody uprisings of the Strelitzen, Sofia was declared regent for the two underage Zars Ivan V. and Peter I. For the first time since Helena Glinskaya, a woman sat on the Russian throne. The unsuccessful campaigns against the Crimean Tatars led to her fall in August 1689. Eventually Peter the Great sent her to the monastery.
Anyhow, a beautiful Russian Zarina must sing a beautiful song! 😍
°Sofia Alexeyevna began her reign at the same time as her brother Ivan V. and her younger half-brother Peter I. – So there was a period when all three ruled at the same time.
